Levi Strauss: Inside the Archive
January 28, 2012

San Francisco, California

Join the company's historian for a behind-the-scenes look at their corporate archives. We will see garments ranging from the world’s oldest pair of jeans, to the first women’s jeans, to 1930s children’s sun suits. Documents, photographs and marketing materials round out the collections. Exhibits in the headquarters lobby will also be available for viewing.

Colors of the Oasis: Central Asia Ikats

Seattle Asian Art Museum, Seattle, Washington

Experience a selection of ikat textiles from Central Asia in this exhibit at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. A curatorial tour of the exhibit will be followed by an al fresco boxed lunch (weather permitting) in Seattle’s beautiful Volunteer Park.


California Designing Women, 1896 – 1986

A curator-led tour of the Autry National Center’s exhibition, California Designing Women, 1896 – 1986, examines the influence and innovations that California’s female designers made on the American design industry with products for the home and personal adornment. The exhibition includes costume from significant designers such as Margit Fellegi and DeDe Johnson, along with textiles, ceramics, furniture, lighting, graphics and jewelry.
