President's Message
We are now well into the second decade of the 21st century. The Region invites you to join us for a program or meet-up in 2012. We have a wonderful line-up of upcoming programs and more information about them is available on these web pages. |

The Western Region offers two kinds of programming. The in-depth programs include presentations or behind-the-scenes opportunities that provide unique opportunities to learn more about costume. In March of 2012 we will also hold a regional symposium at the William S. Hart Ranch and Museum in Santa Clarita, California. Besides an intriguing set of research presentations, there will be a special viewing of a Hart silent movie accompanied by live music. This is going to be a fun and enriching experience!
Our meet-ups allow us to gather with short notice. What is a meet-up? Generally a member discovers an upcoming lecture or exhibition and notifies the President-Elect to see if a meet-up is possible. A notice goes out to the region’s members and they respond to the organizer if they wish to attend. There is no registration but members and their guests are responsible for any entrance fees. Those that attend find that the informal nature of these programs promotes interesting conversations.
As my presidency draws to a close at the end of June, I wish to express my gratitude to the Western Region Board and Officers. They have been a great group with which to work. Our Board meetings are not only productive but fun and lively.
Shelly Foote
President,
Western Region
