Fall/Winter 2008/9 - President's Letter

Dear CSA Southwest Members,

Happy Fall! I love the fall season here in Texas. We don't have the beautiful foliage as in the northeast, but after sweltering in 100+ degree heat and 100+ percent humidity for the past few months, the cool crisp weather is a welcome change. I miss the beauty of the northeast fall and hanging out at the Jersey shore in the summer, but when winter arrives then I don't mind being here in Texas!

It was so good to see many of you in New Orleans in the spring and then some of you in Denver in August. We had two great gatherings so far this year. And more to come! Vicki and Brenda are diligently working to wrap up details for the Phoenix symposium. Many of us will be meeting in Phoenix again for the symposium next year. And of course we will all be busy working to make it successful. Some of the volunteer positions have been filled, but there are plenty more to fill. Our coordinators will let us know where the assistance is needed.

Prior to Phoenix we are planning an informal gathering in Dallas to view Caralee Smith's exhibit Promenade of Style at Fashion on Main. Tentative date for our gathering is Saturday November 22, 2008. Look for your Evite. Also we plan to have an informal gathering in Phoenix prior to the symposium. We will gather there to assist the coordinators and wrap up any last minute details. Tentative date is the weekend of February 7, 2009. More information will be sent soon.

Mary Lou Hymel has had to step down as the membership chair for our region. We keep losing our membership chairperson. I hope they have been working hard welcoming new members and not chasing after lapsed members! But needless to say, we are looking for a new membership chair for the region. The position does not take a lot of time out of our busy schedules. Anyone interested can contact me.

I hope to see you at a regional or national event in the near future.

Regards,

Edie - Southwest Region President
