While much of the country is getting slammed with bad weather, we are having very nice mild weather here in Texas. I hope it is that way for most of our region.
Plans for a regional gathering in Phoenix are well under way. Our Phoenix coordinators are working on a fun-filled weekend for us. We will meet in Phoenix April 11-13, 2014. The weekend was planned around the mini symposium hosted by the Phoenix Museum of Art based on their new Hollywood Costume exhibit. Plans for the weekend include: mini symposium on Hollywood costume, tour of the Hollywood Costume exhibit and the Hollywood Red Carpet exhibit, costume party at the museum, tour of the Musical Instrument museum, and a visit to the Desert Botanical Gardens to see the Dale Chihuly exhibit. Information and registration forms were sent through email. If you have not received please contact me. Bring a friend or two!
Plans are also well underway for the 2015 symposium hosted by our region in San Antonio. We are right on the timeline and maybe even a little ahead in some areas. Some of the volunteer positions have been filled, but there are plenty more before and during the symposium that will need to be filled. We’ll be in touch with everyone and hope you will attend and help out.
The 2014 symposium will be in Baltimore, MD. Information will be sent on that soon by the mid-Atlantic region.
We still need people to be more active in the region. Please think about volunteering for a board position, hosting a regional gathering, and promoting the society to increase membership.
I hope to see you at a regional or national event soon.
