Dear CSA Southwest Members,
So far I cannot complain about the Texas weather. We are having a mild winter, especially compared to last year when we were hit with much ice and snow. I hope the weather stays mild through the summer. I am not looking forward to 100+ days for 30 or more days in a row!!
Our last gathering was in Houston and very successful. It was good to see so many of you attend. We had interesting tours of the Elizabeth S. Brown collection and the Houston Museum of Fine Art. Gathering and networking at Kay King’s house was an exciting part of the weekend.
We had a good turnout for the mini regional event in Dallas. A small group of us got together and toured the Gaultier exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art. We look forward to our next regional gathering. Big or small, we need to find ways to get together and network.
The regional board met in January 2012. The main discussion was the 2015 symposium. The 2015 symposium will be hosted by our region and located in San Antonio, TX. The coordinators have started the initial planning. They will need everyone’s assistance to make it successful.
Also discussed at the meeting were ways to increase membership. We need more gatherings and networking. We hope that we will have volunteers to host a gathering. We also have a challenge to sponsor a student member. So all members should go out and get a new member. Sponsor a student or sponsor a regular member; encourage someone to join.
Just a reminder that Charlotte Hamilton is editor for the regional newsletter. Please send all articles and information to char...@hccs.edu.
Hope to see many of you at a regional or national event soon!
