Spring-Summer 2008 - President's Letter
Dear CSA Southwest Members,
While I was gallivanting around the globe this past December, many of you convened in San Antonio for an exciting meeting. Our San Antonio members arranged a fun weekend with visits to Barbara and Kent's costume shop, the Witte Museum, shopping at Bazaar Sabado, and much more. The weekend was also very productive in that a theme was decided on for the Phoenix 2009 symposium: Costumes Crossing Borders: A Cultural Journey.
Speaking of symposiums, the 2008 New Orleans symposium is fast approaching. You should have received your information booklet in the mail or you can pull up information from the CSA website. Many fun activities are planned in New Orleans. I hope that many of you will be able to attend the symposium in May.
Much work goes into planning these symposiums. Our coordinators for the Phoenix symposium, Vicki Berger and Brenda Brandt, have been working for the past few years and still have much more work to do. With the Phoenix symposium next in line after New Orleans, there will be more and more to do. Remember to put on your volunteer hat as needed. They will need much help to make it successful.
As you may know already the new on-line directory has been launched. This new feature is available on the member only site, located on the CSA home page. The new on-line directory will allow you to search for members in various ways and also edit your information on-line. The entire members' directory can also be downloaded. This is a great tool and available right at your finger tips.
Unfortunately Evonne Bowling has had to step down as regional membership chair. Don't you hate when work gets in the way?! She will still try to be as active in CSA as her schedule allows. I am sure that Vicki and Brenda will have plenty to keep her involved soon. Please welcome Mary Lou Hymel of San Antonio as the new regional membership chair. It didn't take too much arm twisting to get Mary Lou to "volunteer" and I know she will do well in her new position. Mary Lou can be contacted at emmelhymel@gmail.com.
Tentative plans for our next regional is to meet in Denver in the summer. More information on that soon.
I hope to see you at a regional or national event in the near future.
Regards,
Edie - Southwest Region President
