I am looking forward to a nice cool fall! Texas has been hit with 100+ temperatures this summer for over 30 days. We deserve a pleasant fall and winter!!
It was good to see many of you in Boston. I am wishing for that nice cool weather that we had there. Besides the weather and many interesting paper presentations, we had a very productive regional meeting. Most important is that the national symposium will circle back around to our region in 2015. A suggested host city is San Antonio. We will keep everyone up to date on details and look for everyone's assistance to make the symposium a big success.
New officers and board members were voted into place in June. Congratulations to everyone and I look forward to working with you on Southwest region issues. Charlotte Hamilton has volunteered to take over the newsletter. Please send all articles and information to her. (charlotte.hamilton@hccs.edu)
Our next gathering will take place in Houston in the fall. Kay King will host the region and guests to visit the Houston Community College exhibit of Steampunk Chronicles: The Elizabeth S. Brown Fashion Collection. Date for the weekend gathering is September 30 - October 1. Contact Kay or me for additional information (kay.king@hccs.edu or esanford@jcpenney.com). Vicki Berger is also putting together plans for a regional gathering and workshop for the spring in Phoenix.
I encourage more gatherings large or small. Let's network and bring people together, especially potential members. We need to increase our membership, as membership has been dropping lately. And we need to keep current members interested. Everyone must do their part.
Hope to see many of you at a regional or national event soon!
