Tour Information

The Costume Society of America is sponsoring a two-week study tour to England, to study Eighteenth Century costume and historic sites (and some earlier sites as well). The tour will include Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and London with visits to the Museum of Welsh Life, The Museum of Costume in Bath, special guided tours at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Hampton Court Palace in London as well as English National Trust sites in southwest England. CSA members Whitney Blausen and Joy Emery who led the successful '01 English costume study tour will be the tour leaders.

The tour includes "Life in a Georgian City", the annual Symposium of the Costume Society of Great Britain. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and socialize with our British colleagues at the Symposium and on the tour. Recognized costume scholars who will be participating include lecturer Lindsay Evans Robertson, Museum of Welsh Life curator Christine Stevens, Victoria and Albert Museum curator Susan North, and Hampton Court heritage interpretation experts Jane Malcom-Davies, Caroline Johnson and Alex de-la-Haye. Key speakers at the Symposium include author/lecturer Dr. Alieen Riberio; Curator of the Museum of Costume in Bath Penelope Byrde Ruddock; and author/lecturer Dr. Christopher Breward.

In addition to the Symposium and guided events, there will be plenty of time for shopping and siteseeing. Hotel with breakfast and several other meals are included. See the itinerary for full details. The cost is $3495 (per person double occupancy).
