Vest, sidriyeh, slit tapestry and embroidery, multi-colored silk thread and
gold and silver metallic-wrapped threads, Syria, ca. 1860's. According
to Victoria Z. Rivers, "The Shining Cloth", wealthy Bedouin men
often commissioned Aleppo weavers to make vests like this to be worn over
belted floor-length robes and trousers.
