Jack Handford Summer Internship


The Western Region actively supports student members and encourages institutions and students to apply for the Jack Handford Summer Internship which is offered every other year. For the Jack Handford Summer Internship of 2024, student applicants must be an undergraduate in their third year of instruction or any year following, including graduate students, showing promise as new professionals. The internship is appropriate for students with majors such as costume studies, material culture, museum studies, fashion history, or similar. This year, the winning student will receive a $3,000 grant for a student internship. The internship is intended to average a length of six weeks and a total of 120 hours for the duration. Student applicants must be current CSA Western Region members to apply. The application deadline for students has been extended to April 1, 2024. Please fill out the Student Application form and other materials stated in the form and submit them to Naomi Arnst, CSA-Western Region, Student Awards and Summer Internship Chair.

Membership Support Subsidies

Student and Emerging Professional Membership Support


The Western Region is happy to support its student members. To encourage students to become part of the Costume Society of America, the Western Region will pay $30.00 of the $55.00 cost of student membership for students who join through the Western Region, making it possible for you to become a member for $25.00 a year for a maximum of two years.


The Western Region is pleased to extend Membership Support for Emerging Professionals within 3 years of graduation. To encourage Emerging Professionals to become part of the Costume Society of America, the Western Region will pay $30.00 of the $75.00 cost of Emerging Professional making it possible for you to become a member for $45 a year for a maximum of two years.
