CSA's Secretary is responsible for the records of meetings including recording the proceedings of the National Board and Executive Committee meetings and the membership's Annual Meeting.


Elaine Yuen, PhD, is a scholar and educator whose international upbringing in Hong Kong informs her commitment to cultural understanding and interdisciplinary learning. She earned her Ph.D. in Cultural Heritage Informatics at Kent State University, where her dissertation developed pedagogical strategies using museum collections to enrich fashion students’ cultural awareness and reduce cultural appropriation in the industry. She also holds an MFA in Theater Studies with a concentration in costume design and a Master of Fashion Industry Studies from Kent State. Yuen is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in the fashion program at Miami University, Oxford, following six years of teaching at Kent State across theater, fashion studio, and information studies. Before her academic career, she spent more than a decade as a fashion designer in Hong Kong specializing in sweaters. Her research and teaching integrate fashion, costume, technology, museum studies, and user experience to broaden students’ global perspectives and support their professional growth.
