Howard Vincent Kurtz

Howard Vincent Kurtz has an extensive and diversified career in costumes, which involves academic teaching, professional design, and museum curation. Currently, he is serving as Guest Curator for Costumes and Textiles at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park, Florida.



In roles of leadership for CSA, Howard has served the Mid-Atlantic Region as Chair and Finance Chair, Trustee, and Chair of the National Endowment Committee. He also served as a National Board member as well as Treasurer for the Executive Board.  He is currently Finance Chair for the Southeast Region and serves on the National Board.  Howard is honored to be a CSA Fellow.

In 2021, Howard established CSA’s Emerging Theatre Artist Award, encouraging young scholars, students, and early-career professionals to achieve their potential success in costume design and technical theater. The award is dedicated to all the mentors who assisted him along his extensive and diversified career journey.
